Often referred to as the jewel in Queensland's crown, Hervey Bay is a peaceful and picturesque seaside town offering pristine beaches as well as a gateway to World Heritage listed K’gari– one of the best places in Australia from which to embark on whale watching tours.
Located three and a half hours drive from Brisbane, or forty five minutes by air, Hervey Bay has long been attracting tourists with people visiting the region for the last century.
Hervey Bay offers a warm climate and an abundance of waterways, meaning there are plenty of aquatic activities to enjoy including swimming, fishing, sailing, diving, sea kayaking and water skiing.
From late July to early November, Hervey Bay comes alive with whale watching season and each year tourists from around Australia and the world visit this beachside town to have the experience of a lifetime. Departing from Urangan Marina, whale watching tours head to sea to witness the majestic Humpback Whales on their annual migration from the cool Antarctic to the warm coastal waters of South East Queensland before returning south again.
